Christmas market plans in place

Christmas is coming and plans for Matlock’s Victorian market are well under-way.

The packed weekend of festive fun will be held from Friday December 3 to Sunday December 5.

Sally Pepper, of the BBC’s East Midlands Today weather team will joining in the annual parade on Saturday and to switch on the towns lights.

The parade will include a coach and horses supplied by Caroline Dale of Darley Dale’s Red House Stables and appearing for the first time will be the Derby Midshipmen Carnival Show Band.

On Sunday, before the festive firework display, Terry Nash, winner of "Stars in Your Eyes" will present his tribute to Meatloaf and perform songs from the movies. Arena entertainment provided by the Long Eaton Militaires Carnival Show Band will also be taking place.

Cllr Geoff Stevens the chairman of the event said: "All the arrangements for the event are now in place, and stall space is close to the sell –out point."
